Intro to Modern Day Moses. Shaping The Culture.

I want to go in more detail about this topic and the bullet points listed below at a later date. For now, here is a quick spill…

The culture/community is able to thrive when it is aligned to God’s plan. Its ability to thrive exists because of your participation in its decision making process as well as God’s grace. I’ll give you a huge example and a smaller one… being involved in the legal aspects of the foster care system, whereby you help to restore the dignity of young people who are made in God’s image. Here’s another, giving your friend some physical advise on their relationship where neither parties are committed to each other while simultaneously advocating marriage and demonstrating your commitment to your spouse who you no doubt get intimate with.

Modern Day Moses is about culture shaping. It’s about membership. It’s about revolution. It’s an idea that involves the shaping of ones spheres of influence, the work of molding our community.  It’s leading, crafting, and caring for. The target of our care are the parts that make up the future of culture (I say future, because much of culture is rooted in the past). This is art, education, business, sports, science, and politics, etc. that contribute to our society's trajectory. For those who don’t already see the “biblical by-in,” this type of posturing is what it looks like when you really love thy neighbor.   You may want to call it, discipling the culture.

It’s important to note that this Modern Day Moses ideal assumes a certain level of familiarity with the subject that is being shaped. First, let me give you my quick intro to who Moses was: Moses was a dynamic revolutionary. A Hebrew by birth but had a unique opportunity to learn from the Hebrew elite through his upbringing. I love the part where he saw one of his people (a Hebrew) getting a beat down, Moses identified with him. Moses was instantly ready to squabble with him. Follow the narrative and see that in short, he knew God and he knew God’s people (Christ- type) and for that reason, he was eligible to lead.

As a Christian, I need to identify with people. It’s not us vs. them, it’s just us. We all have a commonality of sin, and trying to navigate a fallen domain.  By God’s grace, I have the keys to the kingdom and it’s only by God's grace that I have em. If you’re a Christian and you have trouble identifying with the culture, then I doubt your ability to shape its progression. God moves through culture. The Israelites being in the wilderness became the process by which God transformed the people who were bent on Egyptian culture.

A few bullets to leave you with:

-Study, involve yourself with and love the culture

-Practice seeing God’s grace in the worst spaces

-Strive for greatness in your endeavors

-Master those 3 and be ok with rejection

*Much more detail will be given to those bullet points later. For now, download the song, share it, and be on the look out for more music.
